Several areas across Malta, from Mellieħa to Żurrieq, experienced a brief power cut on Monday morning following a trip at the Delimara 4 power station.
An Enemalta spokesperson confirmed with BusinessNow.mt that the interruption was caused by a trip at the gas-fired power station.
Power was restored shortly afterwards, with the spokesperson confirming that supply had been fully restored across the island at 10.50am.
Delimara 4 is the 205MW gas-fired power station operated by Electrogas and forms an important part of Malta’s electricity generation system.
Malta experienced a series of power cuts during the summer months as electricity demand shot up, with the island registering a new all-time record demand of 741MV during a heatwave in July.
Enemalta confirmed last week that impacted households will be compensated between €60 - €110, depending on the duration of the power cuts.
The compensation will be awarded as credit on electricity bills.
