An unusual property listing has surfaced on Facebook’s Marketplace – a fully operational fireworks factory in Wied Qirda, Siġġiewi, is up for sale. The listing describes the property as a 3,514 sqm fire factory with all necessary permits, 12 functional rooms, and a scenic valley backdrop. No price tag has been included in the advert.
The Marketplace post, however, lists an additional five tumoli of land that can also be acquired for an additional €400,000.
The factory has been marketed as a unique business or investment opportunity. While industrial properties frequently hit the market, a licensed fireworks factory is a rare sight, raising questions about whether it is indeed possible to acquire a fire factory, through a simple transaction.
Fireworks hold deep cultural significance in Malta, with numerous village feasts relying on the craftsmanship of licensed pyrotechnicians. However, stringent regulations govern the sector due to its inherent risks.
