The top role at Infrastructure Malta will be filled by Ivan Falzon following previous holder Trustin Farrugia Cann’s sudden resignation after spending just over a month at the helm of the roads agency.

Mr Falzon is currently CEO at the Water Services Corporation, a position he has held since March 2020.

Prior to that, he served as CEO of Mater Dei Hospital since 2014.

The appointment was officially confirmed in a Government statement on Wednesday, but was first reported by Times of Malta, citing sources.

Mr Farrugia Cann quit before signing his employment contract, claiming that he had been misinformed about the level of commitment required. He said he would instead focus on his refereeing career, in which he has achieved considerable success.

He had replaced Frederick Azzopardi, who led Infrastructure Malta since it was founded in 2017.
