Malta and Bulgaria are set to benefit from increased air connectivity, as Ryanair introduces a five-day-a-week flight schedule between the two countries from mid-February to October 2025. This development marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations, encouraging tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami, Malta’s non-resident Ambassador to Bulgaria, has actively championed enhanced connectivity, recognising its critical role in facilitating trade, education, and tourism. Commenting directly to Business Now on the development, she stated, “this expanded flight schedule will facilitate greater business opportunities, making travel more efficient for entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals. Additionally, it will boost the tourism sector, making it easier for travellers from both countries to explore new cultural and leisure opportunities.”

Malta and Bulgaria already share strong business ties in key sectors such as financial services, iGaming, manufacturing, and education. With the improved flight schedule, new avenues for collaboration are expected to emerge, particularly in tourism and cultural exchange. The increased accessibility will also encourage more visitors to experience the historical and cultural richness of both nations, providing a boost to hospitality industries and strengthening people-to-people connections.

Furthermore, this development will benefit the Maltese community working in Bulgaria by improving mobility and offering more flexibility for travel. It will also facilitate more frequent high-level meetings, the exchange of best practices, and greater participation in education and cultural initiatives. “Strengthening ties through knowledge-sharing, cultural events, and academic collaboration will further deepen our bilateral relationship,” Ms Muscat Fenech Adami added.

As Malta and Bulgaria continue to expand their partnership, this enhanced connectivity represents a promising opportunity to build on existing collaborations and forge new connections that will drive economic growth and cultural enrichment for both nations.
