Malta Startup Space gets new website aimed at better connecting the sector

The Malta Startup Space, which is a free network of startup founders, investors and operators on the island, has a new look, with a new website having been launched this week.

The Malta Startup Space launched around seven years ago, Simon Theuma, who runs the network, said.

The aim of the network is to bring together all startup ecosystem stakeholders in one place - founders, startup investors, support services and Government entities, he explained.

After the group had launched, its members had begun shifting to using messaging platforms like Whatsapp, as members wanted to engage with each other more. “When I took over the group last year, we took the decision to shift most of the network’s activity onto Whatsapp, allowing people to engage more with other founders.”

However, he said that the need for a new website also became apparent, in order to keep members informed with updates and create a directory with profiles of the various startup founders and companies, along with who is open to mentoring others and who is open to investing, for instance.

This, he said, led to the creation of the new site, to bring the information together.
