MIA

Malta International Airport (MIA) has officially launched its winter schedule for 2024, bringing a host of new travel opportunities and increased connectivity for passengers.

The new schedule will cover the period from 29th October 2023 to 30th March 2025 and introduces several exciting developments aimed at enhancing travel options for both locals and tourists.

New destinations and route expansions

The schedule features six new destinations, including Riga in Latvia, Katowice in Poland, and Bucharest in Romania.

Additionally, there are several frequency increases on existing routes, particularly to European hubs such as Brussels, Berlin, and Frankfurt. This expansion will bolster connectivity to important commercial centres, making it easier for business travellers and tourists to move efficiently between Malta and the continent.

Increased frequencies to popular destinations

In line with rising travel demand, MIA has also announced increased frequencies on several of its most popular routes. Flights to Munich and Zurich, for instance, will see significant boosts in frequency, with these destinations offering up to four flights per week. Moreover, the route to Istanbul will now operate seven flights per week.

The launch of the winter schedule was made possible through close collaboration with the various airlines operating at Malta International Airport. MIA’s commercial team worked together with carriers like Ryanair, KM Airlines, and Wizz Air to ensure a balanced offering that caters to diverse travel preferences, whether for leisure or business purposes.

Enhanced travel options for winter tourism

The new schedule is expected to play a key role in boosting winter tourism to Malta.

By expanding its flight offerings and enhancing international connectivity, Malta International Airport’s new winter schedule positions the country for a successful off-peak season. With the island continuing to grow as a destination for both leisure and business travel, the improved air connectivity will benefit various sectors, including tourism, commerce, and logistics.
