SiliconCatalyst, the world’s only incubator focused exclusively on semiconductor startups, is now expanding to the European Economic Area (EEA) with the launch of SiliconCatalyst.EU.

Backed by the Malta Competence Centre, one of the Chips JU-funded Chips Competence Centres, this expansion builds on the success of SiliconCatalyst.UK, where early cohorts have already secured over €40 million in VC and Angel funding.

A European tri-partite partnership, Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) will boost the development and adoption of advanced nano-electronic chip-technologies and systems manufactured in Europe.

The ChipStart EU programme offers a one-year, zero-cost incubation for semiconductor startups across the EEA that have raised less than $1.5 million in funding, with the support of Malta Enterprise and the Chips JU.

Unlike traditional accelerators, no equity is taken, ensuring founders retain full ownership while gaining access to Silicon Catalyst’s extensive ecosystem. This includes free design automation tools, IP libraries, and advanced foundry prototyping, critical resources that are typically out of reach for early-stage innovators.

Selected startups will undergo an intensive semiconductor industry training programme, equipping them with the knowledge to attract venture capital and scale effectively. Each company will also be paired with a dedicated European mentor and gain access to a global network of semiconductor executives, providing invaluable guidance on product development, go-to-market strategy, and fundraising.

The ChipStart EU incubator is now accepting applications, with the deadline set for 10th August, 2025. Founders with innovative semiconductor technologies – from AI chips to quantum devices – are encouraged to apply.

For startups that have already surpassed the $1.5 million funding mark, Silicon Catalyst offers a separate accelerator programme with tailored support for scaling operations.

With the EU Chips Act driving investment in semiconductor sovereignty, ChipStart EU arrives at a important moment. By lowering barriers for early-stage startups, SiliconCatalyst.EU aims to strengthen Europe’s position in the global semiconductor race, one startup at a time.
