Oscars

The Malta Academy Selection Committee (MASC), together with the Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) and the Malta Producers Association (MPA), has opened submissions for Maltese feature films to be considered for the International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars).

Submissions close at noon on 1st September 2025.

To be eligible, films must:

  • Be produced by creatives who are Maltese citizens, residents, or individuals with refugee or asylum status in Malta;
  • Have a runtime of at least 40 minutes;
  • Contain a minimum of 50 per cent of dialogue in a non-English language;
  • Have been first released in the country of origin between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025;
  • Have been screened in a commercial cinema for at least seven consecutive days.

Films can be submitted to the Selection Committee via a Vimeo link (or equivalent) sent to maltaacademyselectioncommittee@gmail.com.

The committee may request additional information to verify completeness and eligibility. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of film professionals, with the selected entry going forward for consideration in the International Feature Film category at the Oscars.
