The average wealth per adult in Malta stood at $163,655, the 2026 UBS Global Wealth Report found, placing Malta in the top 30 countries list.

UBS, a global wealth manager and leading universal bank in Switzerland, publishes the Global Wealth Report annually, and it provides insights into personal wealth. The latest edition analyses 56 markets, which are estimated to represent over 92 per cent of the world’s wealth.

This year’s edition, which focuses on data from 2025, saw Malta rank 28th in terms of average wealth per adult in US Dollars, with the average in the country listed as being $163,655. It ranked even higher on the median wealth per adult in USD scoreboard, coming in at 15th, with the median being $114,033.

In last year’s report, only a top 25 list was featured, and while Malta was not included in the top 2025 for average wealth per adult, it was listed in the median wealth per adult in USD list, coming in 16th place, however the median for the country was actually higher than in this year’s report, at $120,875. In the year prior to that, the median was $102,451.

The report also shows that just over 50 per cent of Malta’s population have assets worth over $100,000

Switzerland topped the table, with the average wealth per adult standing at $910,382, while Luxembourg topped the median wealth table, with $394,005.

In terms of regions, the report finds that adults in North America remained the wealthiest on average, with average wealth per adult of $ 660,000, followed by Australia and New Zealand at almost $ 590,000, while Western Europe reached over $ 330,000.

“In 2025, global personal wealth rose by 10.8 per cent in USD terms, significantly outpacing growth seen in 2024 (4.6 per cent) and 2023 (4.2 per cent). Wealth growth was strongest in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), at 17.5 per cent, followed by the Americas at 8.5 per cent. Asia‑Pacific (APAC) recorded growth of 5.9 per cent, an acceleration from 2024.”

The report also looks into the number of US Dollar millionaires, noting that the total number rose by 1.5 per cent in 2025, equivalent to nearly one million new millionaires globally, or more than 2,600 per day. “The United States accounted for almost half of newly created millionaires in 2025, adding more than 440,000 individuals, followed by mainland China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, each counting over 2 million millionaires in total.”
