On Friday (today), the Malta International Airport warned travellers of longer waiting times caused by the upgrading process of its security screening equipment.

“During this transition time, not all machines are operational, so please anticipate longer waiting times,” it shared on its social media platform.

Furthermore, it thanked all customers for their patience and understanding.

CEO Alan Borg had commented that the airport was in the process of introducing new devices to expedite the security clearance without compromising safety. In June, MIA introduced its new 3D security scanner with plans of have new devices in all six of its security lanes by the end of the year.

So, if you have a travelling plans soon, think ahead, prepare yourself and have a safe flight!
