A San Ġwann farmhouse that once served as the headquarters of a leader of the 1798 Maltese uprising against the French has been listed for €2.5 million.
Vincenzo Borg, a Maltese cotton merchant turned rebellion leader known as Brared, had established his command post within the Ta’ Xindi farmhouse.
Its strategic hilltop position, overlooking the surrounding valleys, meant it was also used as a lookout point. In fact, Brared had even installed a cannon on the hill.

The building still stands some 228 years later and has since been carefully restored into a residential farmhouse.
A listing on Perry Estate Agents’ website shows it comprises a hall, three bedrooms, a sitting/dining room, a kitchen, a main bathroom, a shower ensuite, a laundry and a garden with space for a swimming pool.

“With its commanding hilltop position, deep-rooted historical significance, and unique connection to one of Malta’s most important national figures, this property presents a rare opportunity for buyers seeking something truly extraordinary — a home that is not only lived in, but remembered,” the listing reads.
