KM Malta Airlines

The Finance Ministry did not respond to questions sent by this newsroom as to why the audited financial statements of KM Malta Airlines have not been published.

Questions sent to the airline have also not been answered as yet.

Earlier this week, the Nationalist Party issued a statement airing expressing serious concern over the failure of KM Malta Airlines to publish its audited financial statements.

“More than two years after the airline was established and over a year since it commenced operations, taxpayers remain in the dark about the company's financial performance, despite having financed a restructuring exercise that has reportedly cost hundreds of millions of euro,” the party said.

This newsroom reached out to the Finance Ministry and airline representatives to ask why the audited financial statements have not been published, whether the company made a net profit or loss, and whether there are plans for the publication of the audited financial statements later this year. No reply was sent.

KM Malta Airlines launched its first flight on 31st March 2024, following the closure of Air Malta. The news of Air Malta’s closure came in October 2023, when it was also announced that a new national carrier, KM Malta Airlines, will be taking over, putting an end to speculation as to the fate of Air Malta.
