Firefighters are battling a blaze caused by an industrial fire in Birkirkara.

Photos released by the Civil Protection Department show thick black smoke rising from an opening from a ground-floor building.

The CPD is urging the public to avoid the area due to safety concerns and ongoing emergency response operations.

Residents in nearby towns and villages, including Swatar and Birkirkara, are advised to keep all doors and windows closed as a precaution against smoke and fumes.
