George Gregory

The Ministry of Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects has announced that Malta Enterprise’s board has appointed George Gregory as its new CEO.

His appointment will come into effect from 9th September 2024.

As a result, he replaces Kurt Farrugia, who was announced as the new CEO of Transport Malta last week.

Additionally, a process has already commenced for Mr Gregory to end every involvement he has with RSM Malta, where he most recently served as managing partner.

Minister Silvio Schembri thanked Mr Farrugia for his time at the agency, and also looked forward to Mr Gregory’s contribution to Malta Enterprise and Malta’s economic development.

“This is a very important time for Malta Enterprise, where, as a country, we need to continue implementing more strongly our strategies so that we attract high value activity that does not require many workers or land to operate. This is how we can ensure sustainable economic growth that benefits everyone,” the Minister continued.

Malta Enterprise is the country’s economic development agency, tasked with attracting new foreign direct investment as well as facilitating the growth of existing operations. In recent years, it was central in deploying pandemic-related support schemes and distributing financial aid, elevating its status as a key agency for the local business community.

Mr Gregory has over 30 years of professional experience. Aside from his time at RSM Malta, he also served in the position of partner with other companies, including top tier firms.

Throughout his career, he led a number of high-profile projects, including acquisitions, restructuring, and strategic consultancy roles, both commercial as well as from a taxation perspective.

He is an Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) graduate.

He had joined RSM Malta at the start of 2021, leading the firm’s COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic transformation strategy. Mr Gregory remarked that it was a privilege to have led the company.

RSM Malta’s partners have now started a formal process to find a successor, with the firm stating that a “smooth and orderly transition” involving Mr Gregory will take place in the meantime.
