Malta International Airport (MIA) registered 734,791 passenger movements in November, with traffic peaking on the first day of the month, as families travelled to and from Malta in time for the mid-term holidays.
A total of 207 flights were operated on 1st November, carrying 33,557 passengers, making it the busiest day of the month. Across November the airport recorded 4,973 aircraft movements, translating into an 18.5 per cent increase over the same month last year.
Growth in traffic was supported by a 21.5 per cent increase in seat capacity when compared to 2024. Despite this expansion, Malta International Airport still registered a strong seat load factor (SLF) of 82.1 per cent, indicating sustained demand for air travel.
The United Kingdom and Italy retained their positions as the airport’s two largest source markets in November. However, the market leaderboard saw some notable shifts, with Poland returning to the top three for the first time in seven months.
The rise in Polish traffic was underpinned by increased flight frequencies across several routes, including Warsaw, Krakow and Gdansk, reflecting growing connectivity between Malta and the Polish market.
Germany ranked fourth, recording marginal growth of 0.9 per cent over last year, while Spain’s strong performance – marked by a 24.2 per cent increase – pushed it back into the top five markets after a prolonged absence.
