Residential property prices in Malta increased by 6.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) stood at 105.94 during the quarter, while prices also increased by 1.6 per cent compared with the first quarter of 2026.
Apartments recorded the strongest annual increase among the property categories covered by the index, with the Apartments Price Index rising by 7.4 per cent over the year to reach 106.31.
Maisonette prices also increased, although at a slower pace, with the Maisonettes Price Index rising by 4.3 per cent annually to 103.81.
The RPPI combines indices for apartments, maisonettes and houses, with the weights used in compiling the index based on the value of transactions for each property type.
The NSO said the index is based on data provided by the tax authority and covers around 1,400 residential property transactions in each quarter.
