The Maltese Government is exploring its options to provide a subscription to an AI service for anyone who completes a course on its safe use.

In a surprise measure announce by Finance Minister Clyde Caruana during his Budget Speech for the upcoming year, he said Malta will provide free lessons, certification, and support for parents and the elderly to try and equip everyone with the skills necesarry to navigate a rapidly changing landscape.

Upon completion of the course, the Government will provide participants with a subscription to an AI service, he said.

Minister Caruana mentioned OpenAI’s ChatGPT And Google’s Gemini as potential services.

He said work on the initiative is proceeding apace, and is expected to be launched early next year.
