New economic niches and sectors need to be invested in for Malta’s workers to live a better quality of life from a financial perspective, Nationalist Party spokesperson for finance Jerome Caruana Cilia together with economy spokesperson Ivan J Bartolo said over the weekend.

“In this way, we would not only be creating jobs, but jobs of better quality, that add value with quality wages. In addition, several workers would progress, and social mobility would be improved in Malta.”

Mr Caruana Cilia and Mr Bartolo stressed that in the past, when decisions were taken to bring new economic sectors to Malta, the benefits were easy to see. They listed the introduction of financial services, gaming, maritime, aviation, and pharmaceuticals, among others.

The Opposition spokespersons added that behind each new sector finding a place in Malta, this involved a process stemming from a clear economic vision.

“This leads to a strong economy, one that is diversified and resilient.”

On this note, the paid revealed that the PN’s pre-budget document will be launched this week, after discussions and dialogue were exchanged with Malta’s constituted bodies, organisations and civil society.

The document will also raise several discussion points on how to make the economy work for people by improving quality of life.

This comes one week ahead of the Government's official Budget 2023 announcement, which will take place on Monday 24th October.
