The Nationalist Party’s Selmun Health Park would be run through a collaboration between the public sector, the private sector and non-government organisations, the party told BusinessNow.mt.

This, the party said, would help ensure quality, accessibility and effective coordination.

One of the PN’s proposals during the electoral campaign is for the creation of a National Health Park at Selmun, which would be turned into a centre for lifestyle, rehabilitation and prevention. It would be set up through an estimated investment of €20 million.

“The National Health Park represents a change, for there to be a shift from treatment to prevention through a healthy lifestyle. This new proposal strengthens the healthcare system, improves quality of life, and creates a new space where people can stay healthy, recover properly, and live better,” the PN said.

PN Leader Alex Borg, when announcing the project, had said that it will also incorporate the nearby Fort Campbell, which will become an integrated park. The PN had said that it will be restored and opened to the public for everyone to enjoy, while also serving a function in alleviating mental health challenges. This will include an ecological park, clear access to surrounding trails, mobility areas, and an interpretation centre recounting the history of the fort while preserving its identity.
