A Ryanair flight from Liverpool to Malta has been diverted to Palermo Airport on Monday.

The flight, FR8928, which took off from Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 5.50am, was scheduled to arrive at Malta International Airport at 10.15am.

Reports have stated that the diversion came due to a passenger being taken ill and requiring immediate medical assistance.

An ambulance was waiting for the passenger at Palermo airport.

Delays have also been confirmed for the subsequent flight from Malta to Liverpool, FR8929, originally scheduled for departure at 10.40am.
