Two companies in the transport and logistics industry, situated within the industrial zone in Ħal Far, will be relocated to make way for the much-anticipated race track.
The area currently occupied by the two companies spans 27,000-square meters in land and is vital to their operations, hence, they will be moved to another area within the same zone.
“The relocation process will ensure a seamless transition for the operations of the two companies,” Government said.
During a visit to the site, Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, highlighted that construction of the motorsport complex is currently in progress.
“To assure that that we meet our goals, it was crucial for us to work with different entities. This also includes individuals whose land needs to be transferred to SportMalta so that it is transformed into the race track,” Minister Grima continued.
The Sport Minister was also accompanied by Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, who noted that the cleaning process involved the use of 1,500 trucks for rubble transport (terrapien), that cost around €500,000.
Back in February, the Planning Authority granted approval for the commencement of the first phase of the Ħal Far motorsport complex and its race track.
Works scheduled to transform the complex include; the extension of the track, upgrading of facilities and implementing additional secrity measures for drivers and spectators around the track.
Additionally, the seating capacity of the spectator stands will be expanded to accomodate 3,000 individuals. The control tower will be relocated and will include a designated area for media, both local and international outlets.
Furthermore, driver facilities will be reconstructed to be more modern.
