World’s largest sailing yacht makes first call in Valletta

The Orient Express Corinthian, the world’s largest sailing yacht, made its first call in Valletta on Tuesday 11th August.

The sailing yacht is 220 metres long, and has three enormous carbon-fibre sails, each around 1,500 sqm, rising from masts which are close to 100 metres high. It is operated by Orient Express, a subsidiary of Accor in partnership with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE. It is a new sailing yacht and its inaugural voyages began in May 2026.

The vessel carried 110 guests and has 54 suites, one of which is inspired by Agatha Christie, who had written a book titled Murder on the Orient Express.

It features 5 restaurants, 8 bars, a cinema, spa, library and music area.

One 3-night trip sailing from Malta to Sicily and then the Amalfi Coast in September is going for €17,700 per suite.

The Valletta Cruise Port described the Corinthian as being, “in many ways, the Orient Express dream reimagined at sea: Art Deco glamour, French craftsmanship and old-world romance wrapped around some seriously futuristic sailing technology.”
