keyboard computer hacker scam

The police have urged the public to be weary of scam calls that appear to be coming from a police station or bank.

The authorities said that in this latest scamming attempt, scammers try to get people to provide sensitive information such as bank details or personal information.

“These are none other than SCAMS, and no personal/banking information shall be given.”

Maltese digital and telecoms circles have been plagued with a barrage of scams in 2023. Recently, BOV and APS warned against scam text messages that appear in the same thread on smartphones as genuine messages from the bank.

With time, scams are getting more sophisticated, and authorities are urging the public to be hyper-aware and vigilant to avoid falling victim.
