President George Vella this week inaugurated an exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malta and Estonia.

The President of Estonia, Alar Karis, members of the diplomatic corps resident in Estonia and other dignitaries attended the exhibition’s inauguration in Tallinn.

In his speech, President Vella said that this exhibition is an opportune occasion to commemorate the relationship between the two countries through the best means possible: culture and art. He added that in a time of war, with destruction and displacement at the heart of the European continent, it is refreshing and encouraging to celebrate mutual respect and friendship between nations and peoples.

Whilst thanking all the talented photographers exhibiting their work for the manner in which they have captured the spirit that makes Malta unique, the President remarked that their photos are also a celebration of Malta’s beauty, rich culture and historical heritage.

The exhibition portrays Maltese culture, style of living, and traditions through the lens of five photographers: Errit Kuldkepp, Jonathan Borg, Giuseppe Attard, Joseph Galea, and Roger Azzopardi.

This exhibition, organised by Kenneth Vella, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Estonia and Finland, in cooperation with Aku Sorainen, Honorary Consul of Malta in Estonia, was the final engagement in the calendar of the President’s Official Visit to Estonia.

“My engagements over the past two days have given me an excellent idea of the strengths Estonia has built for itself over the decades and the potential it has to become one of Malta’s foremost partners, particularly in the education and digital sectors”, President Vella stated.

Throughout the visit, the President of Malta was accompanied by the Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, Owen Bonnici.
