Although the average asking price for an apartment in Malta is €414,600, the median is actually closer to €317,000.
After KPMG and the Malta Development Association published a study about the state of the property market, KPMG Director Steve Stivala spoke to BusinessNow.mt about the implications of the findings.
After analysing thousands of apartments listings across Malta this year, the average asking price emerged as €414,600.
However, Mr Stivala explained that the figure was skewed by a small but significant percentage of very high-end apartments that were valued at over €900,000.
He said that the median figure – the exact middle point in a list of figures better reflects the middle of the market, and in this case it stands at €317,000.
And since the figure reflects the advertised price online, rather than the final sale price, the true figure could actually be even lower.
ATTO warned these increases will ripple through the supply chain and ultimately impact Maltese consumers
