The official Facebook page of the Malta Film Commission appears to be the latest social media hacking victim after its profile picture was changed from the organisation’s logo to that of an attractive young lady.

There have been no other posts by the page at the time writing.

This comes amid a series of cybersecurity attacks that have taken place recently, mainly targeting Facebook and Instagram.

Such attacks also included the Facebook account of superintendent of the police’s Financial Crime Investigation Department Sandro Camilleri. In that particular case, both his personal Facebook and Messenger accounts were used by hackers to try to lure people to invest in financial scams. A police report about the case has since been filed.

Malta Film Commission’s hack happened just over a week after the Mediterrane Film Festival, a convention focused on film and creativity, came to a close.
