Flights from Malta to Bergamo Airport in Italy have been suspended following a tragic fatal incident involving a 35-year-old man.

The incident resulted in the cancellation of several other flights, with some flights being redirected to nearby airports. For example, flight FR7325, which departed Malta just after 9AM, had to make an unexpected landing in Bologna.

The flight directly affected by the incident was Volotea’s V73511, scheduled to operate from Bergamo to Asturias, Spain. According to media reports, the individual took his own life by jumping into the engine of a passenger jet preparing for take-off. Some reports are saying that the victim was neither a passenger nor airport staff.

Bergamo Airport is one of Italy’s busiest hubs, and flights have been suspended while authorities investigate the incident.
