The number of residential property final deeds of sale signed in May this year was 3.7 per cent lower when compared to the same month in 2025, however the value of the deeds rose by 2.5 per cent.
In May 2026, the number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property amounted to 1,157, and the value of these deeds totalled €342.3 million, data published by the National Statistics Office shows.
The highest numbers of final deeds of sale were recorded in the following localities: St Paul’s Bay (98), Birkirkara (68) and Marsaskala (51).
The NSO premised that a single final deed of sale or promise of sale agreement may include more than one property. The number of properties transacted in the final deeds of sale was equivalent to 1,261 in May. Apartments (466) and garages (294) accounted for the largest shares.
In terms of promises of sale, 1,316 agreements relating to residential property were registered in May, equivalent to a decrease of 4.4 per cent over the same period in 2025. However here, the value of this year’s agreements was also higher.
The value totalled €604.0 million, representing an increase of 29.2 per cent when compared to the corresponding value recorded in May 2025.
The highest numbers of promise of sale agreements were recorded in the following localities: St Paul’s Bay (88), Birkirkara (70) and Marsaskala (50).
