The Centre for Digital Innovation (DiHubMT) will soon open its doors, which government says will provide start-ups and scale-ups with tools and resources to thrive in the tech industry.
Minister for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, visited the works being carried out at the hub, which will be inaugurated at the end of this year.
The aim of this centre, which will be based in a 550 square metre facility within the MDIA building, is to create a space for start-ups and scale-ups, where they can find everything they need. This includes a space to develop their products, access expertise, and use tools such as a High-Performance Computer, which will enable faster research.
Currently, students and companies needing access to a High-Performance Computer must go abroad, resulting in significant expenses.
When the computer arrives in Malta next year, it will not only enhance the country’s attractiveness for high-quality investment but also make life easier for companies and researchers, said the press release issued by the Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects.
DiHubMT is part of a European network aimed at driving the economy forward through digital transformation.
“The start of any business is difficult. Businesses in the digital innovation sector, such as AI, VR, AR, Blockchain, 3D printing, drones, and IoT, face challenges due to the number of tools required in these industries. With DiHubMT, we will alleviate this, offering start-ups and scale-ups in this industry all they need under one roof. We are not just providing a workspace, but also an IoT laboratory and a 3D printing laboratory, among other things,” said Minister Silvio Schembri during his visit.
DiHubMT is part of a chain of initiatives in our country, alongside MDIA, Gaming Malta, and Malta Enterprise, aimed at attracting quality investments to Malta that offer good salaries and have a low environmental impact.
