Infrastructure Malta CEO Steve Ellul sought to allay safety concerns related to the new Msida flyover.
Speaking to WhosWho.mt, Mr Ellul pointed out that the flyover includes a barrier that can be dismantled in case of an emergency.
However, that would require the temporary closure of the flyover.
He also stated that the triple-layered safety barriers installed along the flyover are unique for a Maltese project.
“It has an intermediate, an upper and a lower part that levels up the safety we are providing to people using the bridge.”
He also stressed that the flyover’s size is in line with traffic standards, while alternative routes will still be usable.
However, he emphasised that embellishment forms a key part of the project, with the area set to become more pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly.
