Ryanair has announced its Winter 2025 schedule for Malta, which will see the airline operate 57 routes, including six new ones to Glasgow, Gothenburg, Luxembourg, Norwich, Newcastle, and Palma. Frequencies on 20 other routes – such as Milan, Porto, Bucharest, and London – will also be increased.

To support this growth, the airline will base a ninth Boeing 737 aircraft in Malta from November, representing a €92 million investment. This addition is expected to create 30 new jobs for pilots and cabin crew at Malta International Airport.

According to Ryanair, the expanded schedule is projected to grow its Malta traffic to more than 5.2 million passengers in 2025, marking a 15 per cent increase year-on-year. In total, the airline’s nine based aircraft represent an investment of over $1 billion (€850 million) on the island, with the company estimating that its operations will support more than 4,300 local jobs.

The low-cost carrier has also highlighted recent investments, including the opening of a hangar maintenance facility in Malta and the expansion of Malta Air’s head office in Pietà.
