A 46-metre superyacht flying the Maltese flag came frighteningly close to sinking off the coast of a Greek island earlier this week as tourists were holidaying on-board.

Dramatic footage uploaded to Instagram shows the vessel careening to its side as it took on water from a door that was carelessly left open.

The Italian shipyard Admiral Yachts-built Ethos gets chartered out for at least €180,000 a week, not including expenses.

The five tourists on the boat, together with five crew members, made it safely to shore after the Ethos was tugged to safety, according to local website Protothema.

The Maltese-registered vessel was off the coast of the popular Greek island Kefalonia.

It has five cabins, a gym, a jacuzzi and comes with jet skis included.

It recently underwent a full interior renovation after it changed hands for some €16 million.
