Corinthia Hotels has signed an agreement to develop, lease and operate a new luxury resort in Tuscany.

The project, named Borgo di Perolla, is set within a 13th-century estate spanning approximately 1,300 hectares of woodland, olive groves and vineyards. Located near Massa Marittima and within reach of coastal destinations such as Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala, the development is scheduled to open by the end of 2030.

The resort is being developed in partnership with entrepreneur Gaetano Buglisi and his BGenera Group, with advisory input from Fortvny and Harry Mills Sciò.

According to Corinthia Group CEO Simon Naudi, the project forms part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Italy.

The development will involve the restoration and conversion of historic buildings into a village-style resort comprising 80 units, including suites and private villas. Plans also include multiple dining outlets, wellness facilities and event spaces, including a restored chapel intended for private functions and weddings.

Mr Buglisi, founder and CEO of BGenera Group, said the project aims to reflect traditional Italian lifestyle concepts.

“Our vision is to redefine excellence in hospitality by drawing inspiration from one of Italy’s most enduring ideals: The art of living well,” he noted.

The resort will incorporate a farm-to-table concept, with produce sourced from the estate and surrounding area, including olive oil, wine and honey.

The signing is Corinthia’s third property in Italy, following the recent opening of its hotel in Rome and ahead of the planned launch of Corinthia Lake Como in 2028.

Founded in Malta in 1962, Corinthia Hotels continues to expand its international portfolio, with recent openings in Brussels, New York, Bucharest and Rome, alongside projects in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
