Oscars

Oppenheimer is expected to keep making headlines throughout 2024 having been featured in 13 categories for this year’s Oscar nominations.

On Tuesday (today), the Oscar nominees were officially unveiled showcasing Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie, Maestro, American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, and The Zone of Interest as the top nominees.

The 96th annual Academy Awards will be held on 10th March in Hollywood, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. This is the host’s fourth time presenting the Oscar awards.

Oppenheimer has received nominations for Best Motion Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Sound.

Additionally, Cillian Murphy was nominated for Best Actor, Emily Blunt for Best Supporting Actress, Robert Downey Jr for Best Supporting Actor, and Christopher Nolan as Best Director.

It seems that the on-screen rivals Barbenheimer are once again “competing” for the same nomination of Best Motion Picture, along with the other top nominees.

Although Barbie has eight total nominations, Margot Robbie was not nominated for her role as Barbie. On the other hand, America Ferrera was nominated for her supporting performance.

Meanwhile, Napoleon, which was filmed in Malta, was nominated for Best Visual Effects.

Other categories included Best International Feature, which included the recently popular Society of the Snow as well as Best Documentary Feature with 20 Days in Mariupol as one of the nominees, among others.
