The Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association has welcomed the latest easing of COVID-19 measures as “another step towards normality for our industry”, with social distancing protocols being lifted for seated events for fully vaccinated and masked people as from Monday 1st November.
The association took to Facebook to celebrate the move, explaining that such events, accepting a maximum of 300 people, will be able to do away with social distancing rules.
“In mid-November, similar rules will be extended to standing events, and in December ‘social life will return to normal’, MEIA said, quoting Minister for Health Chris Fearne.
Minister Fearne declared the Government’s target while addressing Parliament on Monday, as he announced both the measure for establishments and events hosting seated people and another, planned for mid-November, whereby similar rules will be extended to standing events.
He said that the strict protocols will be eased for restaurants, kazini and weddings that only accept vaccinated people as of Monday – as long as staff are also fully vaccinated.
Children under 12 will be able to attend such events without presenting a negative PCR test.
The Minister said he was hoping that as long as the COVID situation remained stable, Malta could return to pre-COVID social gatherings for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
