Bloomberg has revealed, citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation, that Apple will launch the company’s new generation of iPhones, the iPhone 16, and wearables such as Apple watches and AirPods, on 10th September. The time of the launch is not yet confirmed, but the phones and new products will be hitting shelves 10 days later.

Although the new phones won’t be undergoing much of a physical change, insiders say the company is going to be introducing its new artificial intelligence tool, Apple Intelligence, representing a major upgrade to its software. Buttons also seem to be making a comeback, as the iPhone 16 is expected to have a dedicated button for taking pictures.

The new Apple Watch is said to feature thinner straps with larger screens, and as for the AirPods, the entry-level model is expected to be updated for the first time since 2019.

Apple’s computers, the Mac, will be released later this year, and will feature base-level versions of the M4 chip. The versions with 10-core CPUs also have 10-core GPUs, or graphics engines. The model with an eight-core CPU, meanwhile, has an eight-core graphics engine, and they all have either 16 or 32 gigabytes of memory.

This next launch is also said to be critical for Apple, which as faced sluggish sales for its phones and wearable devices in recent quarters. A release of the new iPhone 16 by 20th September would mean some of the revenue generated from the device will be recorded in the current period, Apple’s fiscal fourth quarter, when the company forecast’s sales to grow by around five per cent from the year earlier, according to Fortune.com.
