Over 12,000 music fans filled the iconic Granaries in Floriana on Sunday night for the BBC Concert Orchestra, which presented ABBA vs BEE GEES, a spectacular celebration of two of the world's most iconic pop groups.

Now in its 7th edition, the event has become a firm favourite on Malta's summer events calendar. This year's production featured the internationally acclaimed BBC Concert Orchestra, comprising more than 70 musicians, together with its conductor and outstanding vocalists Natalie Paris, Nathan James, Oliver Tompsett and Kirsten Joy, while renowned British television personality Rylan Clark hosted the evening.

Audiences sang and danced along to timeless hits from ABBA and the Bee Gees.

For those who missed the live event or wish to relive the experience, the concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on 4th October 2026 as part of the station's special disco season.

Reaching millions of listeners worldwide, the broadcast will once again place Malta on the international stage.

Minister for tourism Hon. Jo Etienne Abela remarked that the success of the 7th Edition of the BBC Concert Orchestra confirms the country’s potential to host international-level cultural events that enhance Malta’s tourism experience.

He stressed that the Government is committed to continuing to invest in quality tourism, based on authentic experiences that showcase our identity and culture.

“Events like this not only offer an artistic spectacle of a high standard, but also attract visitors to Malta, extend economic activity, and continue to strengthen our country’s reputation as a cultural destination throughout the year,” concluded Dr Abela.

The Malta Tourism Authority extended its sincere thanks to the BBC Concert Orchestra, technical crews, partners and the thousands of spectators who contributed to making the seventh edition another outstanding success.
