It took just 19 minutes for a “lone wolf” burglar to carry out one of Britain’s biggest robberies. Detectives are currently investigating and on the lookout for a thief that stole €12.7 million worth of bespoke jewellery, cash and designer items in London.
According to The Guardian, on Saturday 7th December, the thief broke into a 13-bed 2,045 sqm house in Avenue Road, St John’s Wood, at 5:11 pm. After spending five minutes going through rooms, he set off to the first of five floors where he found the items. The thief escaped from the second floor by 5:30pm.
During the break-in, there were eight people in the house, including staff and family members.
Armed with a weapon, the thief was caught on camera breaking in with his face covered.
Despite this, he is believed to be Caucasian in his late 20s to 30s with a medium build. At the time of the burglary, he was wearing a dark hoodie, cargo pants, and a grey baseball cap.
As the thief is still on the loose, the family is offering a hefty reward for the return of the items and the thief.
While some jewellery was stolen from a safe, other pieces were taken from a dressing island. The Police stated that the thief stole €180,975 (£150,000) worth of Hermès Crocodile Kelly handbags, one the most luxurious brands globally, €18,097.50 in cash (£15,000), and €12.5 million in jewellery.
Among the stolen jewellery, the thief took a Graff 10.73-carat diamond ring, two butterfly diamond rings by De Beers, a Hermès 3.03-carat ring, an aquamarine ring and a “Niloticus Lumière” necklace, as well as sapphire earrings from Katherine Wang, among others.
