eCabs Technologies, the Maltese ride-hailing software company that is part of the eCabs Group, is set to launch in a second Croatian city.

The company announced that Taxi Barok is now operating on its platform in the city of Varaždin following a full and successful migration.

It follows the migration of Taxi Fiume in Rijeka to its software in August, with a third Croatian city partner already signed and preparing to launch.

Established in 2023, Taxi Barok’s business is built primarily on street hails and call centre bookings.

eCabs Technologies said it chose its platform to strengthen these core channels while growing its app business as customer and driver expectations continue to rise.

The migration brings rider and driver apps, booking and dispatch, pricing, business accounts and operational reporting onto one integrated platform.

Taxi Barok will retain its own brand although it has adopted car livery in the same style as eCabs Malta, Blue in Romania and RooRides in Australia, creating a visual connection between city partners of the software.

“We’ve worked hard to build Barok in Varaždin. Most of our business comes from passengers hailing our cars on the street or calling our call centre,” said Taxi Baron Director Denis Dezmaric.

“For us, the next step is to protect and strengthen that business while growing bookings through our app. Customer and driver expectations keep rising, and we need the technology to keep pace.”

“What appealed to us about eCabs Technologies is that the platform comes from people who have run a taxi business themselves.”

“They understand how street hails, phone bookings and app bookings need to work together, and the experience customers and drivers now expect. Having their team here in Varaždin working alongside ours during the switch has been a valuable part of that partnership,” he added.

“Taxi Barok’s priorities will be familiar to many local taxi operators: protect the street-hail and call centre business they’ve built, grow their app bookings and keep improving the service for customers and drivers. Our role is to give them the technology and support to do that,” said Matthew Bezzina, CEO and co-founder of eCabs Technologies.

“We started as a local operator ourselves. We understand the value of a phone booking, a longstanding customer relationship and drivers who know their city. Those strengths are the foundation operators can build on with the right technology.”

He said that with Taxi Fiume live in Rijeka, Taxi Barok now live in Varaždin and a third Croatian city partner signed, the Maltese tech business is building momentum in the region.

“Our focus is on making each partnership work in practice and helping our partners build stronger businesses.”

Just last month eCabs Technologies announced it had integrated Revolut as a payment service provider, giving the operators that run their businesses on its ride hailing platform the option of processing customer payments through the London-based fintech.
