Foreign qualified accountants in Malta can now join the Malta Institute of Accountants

The Malta Institute of Accountants is extending membership to foreign qualified accountants living and working in the country. The International Associate Membership programme allows foreign accountancy professionals practicing in Malta who have obtained their warrants from any other country to join the Institute for the first time.

“The Institute is delighted to launch this new membership class that represents the growing number of non-Maltese professionals practicing in Malta,” said MIA CEO, Maria Cauchi Delia. “Accountants play a crucial role in industry and society, and we want to engage further with these professionals so that the Institute can contribute to a greater impact on the community.”

As demand for the profession keeps rising, the MIA anticipates the number of professionals with warrants from other EU or Third Countries to increase further. The new membership tier reflects the evolving profession demographics in Malta and Gozo and reinforces the standards of the Institute.

MIA President, Fabio Axisa, said that the Institute is home to all qualified accountants and explained its strategy to raise the quality within the profession while fostering collegiality and comradeship among accountants.

“By broadening our membership base to include international professionals based in Malta, the Institute is strengthening its standing and advancing our profession’s strategic importance to the country’s socio-economic development,” Mr Axisa explained.

Institute members are entitled to a range of privileges including information services, technical support, discounted fees for CPE events organised by the Institute as well as other discounts and offers available through the MIA Privilege Scheme.
