Four new locations across Malta and Gozo have been declared winners by the highly prestigious Forbes Travel Guide Awards for 2023, thereby increasing the total number of awarded locations across the islands to 10.
The Forbes Travel Guide is an independent global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas. The team behind the guide visit each property they rate and evaluate them based on 900 objective criteria, throughout a stay of at least two nights. Malta was first featured in 2022 with seven locations, one of which received the highest possible rating.

The new winners for 2023 were Hyatt Regency Malta, which went from being ‘recommended’ to ‘4-star’, The Phoenicia Malta, listed as 4-star, The Westin Dragonara, listed as 4-star and AX The Saint John Boutique, listed as ‘recommended. The remaining six winners for 2023 are The Corinthia Palance (4-Star), Iniala Harbour House (5-Star), Kempinski San Lawrenz (Recommended), Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa (Recommended), Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Golden Sands (Recommended), and Rosselli – AX Privilege (Recommended).
In total Malta boasts a single five-star rated location, four four-star rated locations, and five recommended locations.
The greatest concentration of locations rated by Forbes can be found in Valletta, which hosts four of the locations, followed by St Julian’s, with three.
