GBSB Global Business School marked two important milestones in the 2026 G-Accelerator Impact Call Malta, its impact-driven entrepreneurship program for early-stage projects in Malta, run in collaboration with the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA). The Selection Committee and Idea Pitch were held on July 23rd and 24th at DiHubMT, at the Twenty20 Business Centre in Birkirkara.

The Selection Committee, held on Thursday, July 23rd, represented the final stage of a rigorous selection process following two rounds of interviews. The finalist startups were evaluated and ranked by Xavier Arola, G-Accelerator Program Director, together with members of MDIA’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation team: Rachell Camilleri, Entrepreneurship Manager, and Maylea Portelli, Entrepreneurship Programme Officer. The committee determined which projects would participate in this year’s edition of the program.

Beyond their commercial potential, the projects generated a strong triple impact by addressing social, environmental, and economic challenges. They focused on improving healthcare through AI-assisted clinical tools, supporting education and career development, promoting biodiversity awareness through gamified learning, and increasing productivity and digitalization for SMEs and project-based industries. While targeting global markets, all projects are based in Malta and planned to validate, develop, and scale their businesses from the island.

The projects taking part in this year’s edition are:

PostSpread: AI-powered social media management platform that helps small businesses publish, schedule, and manage content across multiple channels.

Biodex: AI-powered mobile game that encourages people to explore nature while learning about biodiversity through real-world species discovery.

Beta Life: AI-driven career guidance platform that helps students and young professionals make informed education and career decisions.

Projexe: SaaS platform that centralises project, contract, and financial management for construction and project-based businesses.

SALTvision AI: AI-assisted digital health platform that standardises and tracks alopecia areata progression to support clinical decision-making.

The second milestone, the Idea Pitch, took place on Friday, July 24th. It was the first official event of this year’s program and introduced the selected projects to G-Accelerator’s international mentor network.

Mentors based in Malta participated in person, while members of GBSB Global’s Barcelona mentor network and additional trainers and specialists with expertise in the Maltese and wider European markets joined online. The session allowed mentors to learn about the ventures directly, identify areas in which they could contribute, and express their interest in supporting the entrepreneurial teams throughout the program.

Additionally, Rachell Camilleri, Entrepreneurship Manager at the Malta Digital Innovation Authority, explained to participants the role of MDIA in the program and its support services, such as fostering the innovation ecosystem, providing financial support, and offering coworking spaces.

The Idea Pitch was open to the wider G-Accelerator community and concluded with a networking reception, creating further opportunities for entrepreneurs, mentors, institutional partners, and other stakeholders to build meaningful connections.

Together, the Selection Committee and Idea Pitch demonstrated the continued expansion of GBSB Global’s entrepreneurship ecosystem in Malta and deepened the School’s collaboration with MDIA. Through the G-Accelerator Impact Call Malta, GBSB Global supports entrepreneurs in transforming promising ideas into viable, scalable ventures capable of creating economic, social, and environmental value.
