Malta’s residential property market recorded a significant increase in activity in August, with both completed sales and promise-of-sale agreements registering strong year-on-year growth, according to new data published by the National Statistics Office.

A total of 1,367 final deeds of sale involving residential property were registered during the month, representing a 33.8 per cent increase over August 2025. The value of these transactions reached €407.3 million, up 29.1 per cent compared with a year earlier.

During August, 1,241 promise-of-sale agreements were registered, an increase of 18.3 per cent over the same month last year. Their combined value stood at €452.6 million, representing a 15.6 per cent annual increase.

Of the 1,367 final deeds registered during August, 1,236 involved households, representing 90.4 per cent of all transactions. These deals had a combined value of €329.8 million, accounting for around 81 per cent of the total value of final deeds.

St Paul’s Bay registered the highest number of final deeds, with 91 transactions, followed by Marsaskala with 75 and Birkirkara with 72.

St Paul’s Bay also topped the list for promise-of-sale agreements, with 110 agreements registered during the month. Birkirkara followed with 58, while Żabbar recorded 49.

The final deeds registered in August covered 1,504 properties.

Apartments accounted for the largest share, with 534 properties, or 35.5 per cent of the total. Garages were the second-largest category, with 364 properties, representing 24.2 per cent of all properties involved in the transactions.
