The Malta Development Association (MDA) welcomed the announcement of a new joint digital portal linking three government entities, aimed at simplifying processes in the construction industry.

The Planning Authority, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) recently agreed to develop an integrated digital portal to facilitate processes related to planning, construction and workplace health and safety.

“This initiative represents a positive and necessary step towards improving efficiency within Malta’s construction sector and reducing administrative burdens for both professionals and the public,” the MDA said.

“Greater coordination and digital integration between entities has long been needed, and this project signals a clear commitment towards modernising public services and facilitating processes across the industry.”

It added that further investment in digitalisation, simplification of regulatory frameworks and stronger inter-agency coordination are still necessary to meaningfully streamline procedures, eliminate duplication, and reduce unnecessary workload.
