Number of part-timers also holding full-time jobs increases 12.5% year on year

The number of full-time employees holding part-time employment increased by 12.5 per cent when comparing the data for April 2026 with April 2025.

According to the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), there was an increase of 51,835 people who entered part-time employment alongside their full-time employment.

On the other hand, employed persons whose part-time job was their primary occupation amounted to 37,136, which means that there was a 7.6 per cent increase when compared to the same month in 2025.

The sectors that contributed the most towards the rise in part-time employment were mostly Transportation and storage, followed by Accommodation and food service activities.

According to the data provided by Jobsplus, over the period of one year, the labour supply excluding part-timers saw an increase of 5 per cent, reaching 310,989, which was mainly attributed to a year-on-year increase in the full-time registered employment and an increase in registered unemployment.

During April 2026, administrative and support service activities and information and communication contributed mostly to the increase in full-time employment. When compared to April 2025, employment in these economic activities increased by 1,833 and 1,534 persons, respectively.

Registered full-time employment in the private sector went up by 12,333 persons to 253,274, while public sector full-time employment increased by 2,253 persons to 56,318.

The number of persons registered as full-time self-employed rose by 891 when compared to 2025, while the number of persons registered as employees increased by 13,695. Full-time employment for males and females went up by 5 per cent and 4.8 per cent, respectively, over 2025 levels.
