TradeMalta has recently launched a fully revamped website aimed at transforming the way it communicates with its audience, while empowering local businesses to expand internationally.
The new platform, which serves as a one-stop-shop and knowledge hub, is designed to provide everything businesses need to grow beyond Malta’s shores – all under one digital roof.
BusinessNow.mt sat down with Josianne Vella, Senior Manager for Trade Information Services, who shared the thought process behind this major update.
“In today’s digital world, a website is often the first touchpoint an organisation has with its audience,” Josianne begins, as she reflects on the journey that led to the revamped portal. “We wanted to go beyond a typical site and instead create an information-driven platform tailored to the real needs of Malta-based businesses looking to expand internationally.”
With eight years’ experience at TradeMalta, and a thorough understanding of EU-funded projects, Josianne oversees the organisation’s non-financial initiatives and programmes. She highlights that these play a central role in TradeMalta’s wider service offering.
“The new platform brings together a broad set of resources that businesses can use throughout their export journey. It’s more than a website – it’s a tool for growth.”
In fact, the revamped platform was carefully restructured to improve the user experience, through a modern, clean, and highly visual interface, making it easier for them to access the wealth of information available. “A lot of thought went into the redesign process as we wished to offer a seamless customer experience. We wanted it to be intuitive, user-friendly, and relevant to the needs of Maltese businesses.”
One of the most significant updates was the reorganisation of content into three key service areas – Financial Assistance | Market Data | Export Support – helping users better understand the full spectrum of support available.
“While most businesses are familiar with our financial incentives, we’ve found that many are less aware of the full range of services TradeMalta offers,” Josianne explains. “This revamp was our opportunity to make these services more visible and accessible.”
The platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools and resources, guaranteed to provide a 360-degree visual of all a business needs to know when venturing into the exciting world of export.
Market Data gives businesses access to industry reports, trade statistics, and market analysis tools to help businesses make informed decisions. This resource ensures that through TradeMalta’s support, businesses remain ahead of the game, as they are armed with the best data and insider knowledge in the business.
The website also offers a regularly updated schedule of business missions, fairs, and networking events; and by subscribing to TradeMalta’s website, businesses can ensure that they don’t miss on any of these opportunities.
Businesses have a complete library of webinars, podcasts, and practical guides on export strategies, financing, and trade regulations available at their fingertips under the Export Support section of the platform, while all they need to know about funding and incentives and how to apply for the related grants is readily available under Financial Assistance.
Finally, local and foreign businesses can access the Exporters Directory – a searchable platform showcasing Maltese exporters and their products to potential international buyers.
“These sections cover all the services that are offered by TradeMalta and were devised following detailed feedback obtained from businesses we have helped in the past. In addition, the platform features a library of success stories in the form of over 40 video testimonials from Maltese companies that have successfully expanded into international markets with TradeMalta’s support. We believe that there is nothing more powerful than hearing someone’s experience of how they made it – and that is what each of these testimonials does,” Josianne adds.
The launch of the new platform comes as TradeMalta celebrates its 10th anniversary since its establishment in 2015.
“This milestone reflects a decade of commitment to helping Maltese businesses tap into international opportunities. The new platform is an expression of what TradeMalta stands for today — not just as a provider of financial aid, but as a trusted partner in knowledge, strategy, and growth,” she concludes.
“Through this project, we want to send a message that TradeMalta goes beyond the financial assistance packages. TradeMalta is also about information, knowledge, and empowering businesses to take the next step, “We are definitely best placed to provide this information, making us thought leaders in providing this support to drive international business”, Josianne concludes.
