TradeMalta announced that it has completely scrapped entry fees for next year’s International Business Awards, which celebrate Maltese businesses that sell their products and services overseas.
TradeMalta CEO Tania Brown announced that, for the first time, participation will be completely free of charge, with registration and application fees waived to encourage more participation.
Five awards will be presented, recognising micro and small exporters (up to 50 employees), medium and large exporters (over 50 employees), emerging exporters, innovation and diversification in exports, and overall excellence.
Submissions will be technically evaluated by TradeMalt and Grant Thornton, and shortlisted companies will be invited to present their strategies, achievements and future growth potential before a judging panel comprised of representatives from TradeMalta, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce, and HSBC Malta, and chaired by an expert in international trade.
The awards will then be issued on 5th March 2027.
“These awards recognise that international excellence can take different forms and that companies at different stages of development deserve the opportunity to be acknowledged,” Ms Brown said when launching the awards.
“Success isn’t always measured by the absolute size of a company but also in relation to its capabilities, innovation and progress.”
She said that the internationalisation doesn’t just improve the commercial success of the individual companies but has a wider spillover effect in terms of stimulating local supply chains, supporting higher-value employment, and strengthening Malta’s resilience to external economic shocks.
