storm harry

Transport Malta has announced a €1 million assistance scheme to help people, businesses and NGOs recover from the impact of Storm Harry.

It will cover damages caused by abnormal sea rises, fallen or displaced street vegetation and wind-driven external forces.

Applicants will be able to claim a maximum of €5,000 each and their requests for assistance must be supported by time-stamped photographic evidence and professional verification where required.

The scheme will be financed through Transport Malta’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds collected from traffic infringement administrative fines.

Transport Malta published the following non-exhaustive list of damages which are potentially eligible for financial assistance:

•Vehicles not insured full comprehensive damaged by seawater, flooding, fire, falling trees or infrastructure.

•Private boats not insured full comprehensive damaged by the storm.

•Outdoor furniture belonging to establishments or households.

•Garage doors, external doors, apertures, balconies and related elements.

•Any damages caused to electrical systems, components, water or other source of communications.

Damages to fish farms, bus stops, solar panels, billboards and greenhouses are excluded from this scheme.

Multiple works may be claimed under a single application if each item is independently evidenced.
