The Association of Tractor and Trailer Operators (ATTO) has revealed its newly branded logo, marking a fresh, forward-looking approach as it gears up to address the pressing challenges in the transport and logistics sector. These include rising EU regulations, driver shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and the disproportionate costs affecting island economies.

During the unveiling event, ATTO also announced its first international transport and logistics conference, set to take place on 18th February at Xara Lodge, Rabat. Themed ‘Turning Challenges Into Opportunities,’ the event will bring together key industry stakeholders to discuss critical issues affecting the sector.

Joseph Bugeja, ATTO Chairman, highlighted the industry’s importance to Malta’s economy, emphasising the need for collaboration to tackle existing challenges.

“This sector is a vital pillar of Malta’s economic activity, with our members playing a key role in facilitating ongoing import and export operations, essential to the majority of Maltese businesses. However, these operators are still encountering significant challenges that must be addressed through dialogue with the right stakeholders, including government authorities and other industry partners,” said Mr Bugeja.

The conference will feature Hon. Chris Bonett, Malta’s Minister for Transport, Marc Billiet, Associate Director of EU Goods Transport at the International Road Transport Union (IRU), and Dan Wolff, the Irish Road Haulage Association’s EU Representative in Brussels.

Reflecting on ATTO’s recent efforts, Mr Bugeja stated, “The past year has been incredibly intensive. We raised awareness on the importance of our sector to Malta’s economy and established a more structured and open dialogue with local and EU political bodies.”
