BNF Bank has appointed Izzat Nuseibeh as its new Chairman, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, marking an important new chapter for one of Malta’s core banks.
Mr Nuseibeh succeeds Michael Frendo, following his retirement from the role at the recent AGM.
A British national, Mr Nuseibeh brings more than four decades of international banking experience across corporate, private and institutional banking in Europe and the Middle East. He has held senior leadership positions with leading financial institutions including BLOM Bank Qatar, Barclays Bank, Credit Suisse, Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BLOM Bank Qatar.
Throughout his career, Mr Nuseibeh has worked closely with government entities, institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds and high-net-worth clients, developing extensive experience in corporate banking, wealth management, treasury and capital markets.
His appointment brings substantial international banking expertise to BNF Bank’s board at an important point in the Bank’s evolution. It also reflects the continued confidence of BNF Bank’s shareholders in the Bank, its people and its future in Malta.
BNF Bank’s shareholders remain committed, long-term investors in the country and in the continued development of the Bank. Their ambition is clear: To build a stronger, more dynamic and sustainable Maltese banking institution – one that supports customers, businesses and the wider economy, while maintaining the high standards of governance, prudence and service expected of a regulated bank.
Over recent years, BNF Bank has invested significantly in its people, technology, operational resilience and customer proposition. The bank is now focused on building on these foundations: deepening customer relationships, responsibly growing its lending and business lines, and strengthening its position as a trusted banking partner for individuals, families and businesses.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Nuseibeh said: “It is a privilege to be appointed Chairman of BNF Bank. The bank has a strong heritage, a committed shareholder base and a capable management team. I look forward to working with the board and management as we support the bank’s next phase of sustainable growth, always with the interests of our customers, employees, shareholders and Malta at the forefront of our decisions.”
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director David Power said: “I am delighted to welcome Izzat as Chairman. His deep international banking experience, commercial judgement and understanding of the importance of strong governance will be invaluable to BNF Bank. His appointment is a clear vote of confidence in the bank’s future and in Malta. We have real momentum across the organisation, and I look forward to working closely with him as we deliver our growth ambitions responsibly and sustainably.”
BNF Bank remains firmly committed to Malta and to serving its customers for the long term. With a strengthened Board, an experienced management team and the continued support of its shareholders, the bank is well positioned for its next chapter.
